Qatar Club wins HH The Emir's Table Tennis Cup for the fifth time in a row
Qatar Club crowned the title of His Highness the Amir Table Tennis Cup for the 2021-2022 sports season, after defeating Al-Sadd 3-1 in the final match that brought them together this evening at Abdullah Bin Suhaim Hall at Qatar Sports Club.
Al Rayyan also won the third place after defeating Al Arabi (3-1) in the third and fourth place ranking match.
Khalil Al Mohannadi, President of the Qatar Table Tennis Association, President of the Asian and Arab Federations, and First Vice-President of the International Tennis Federation, crowned Qatar Club with the title, Al Sadd Club with second place medals, and Al Rayyan Club with third place medals.
With this coronation, Qatar club won the double today after winning the league title for the current season.
Qatar SC qualified for the final match after defeating Al Rayyan (3-1) in the semi-finals, while Al Sadd SC reached the final after defeating Al Arabi (3-2) in the same round.
Qatar Club won the Emir's Cup for the fifth time in a row and the sixth in its history, after winning the title in the 2001-2002, 2017-2018, 2018-2019, 2019-2020, and 2020-2021 seasons. A long absence as he won the championship 4 times, the last of which was in the 2014-2015 season.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Khalil Al-Mohannadi expressed his happiness with the final match of His Highness the Amir's Table Tennis Cup, congratulating Qatar Club after winning the title.
Al-Mohannadi said: "The Qatar and Al-Sadd teams presented good levels in the tournament, and the final was global, as the players of Qatar Club presented a very high level today, especially the Qatari players, most notably Ahmed Khalil Al-Mohannadi and Muhammad Muthanna.
He added: "In the last three years, Qatar Club achieved the title of the Arab Championship, and was runner-up for two years. It always competes for titles. It is considered one of the best teams not in Qatar, but one of the best Arab teams. Qatar and Al Sadd in the Arab Championship that will be held next November in Tunisia.” Noting that the Emir’s Cup championship witnessed strong competition from all teams.
He continued: "This season, the table tennis activity was distinguished locally and internationally, and everyone knows that we organized international tournaments for 40 days, and it was a great work. Prince and witnessed great levels, especially among the four teams that reached the semi-finals.
The President of the Qatar Table Tennis Association and the President of the Asian and Arab Federations, the First Vice-President of the International Federation of the Game, indicated that the Emir Cup was at the end of the season, and the players will undergo a period of rest during the coming period, and immediately after Eid Al-Fitr, there will be an internal camp for the players in preparation for participating in the Games The Gulf National Team will be held next month in Kuwait, hoping that the team will win the title of this tournament.
